A little bit of jam

A friend gave us a punnet of blueberries - about 250 grams.  I thought of eating them, but then Simeon asked about making blueberry jam.  It took some time to make mom understand that that was what Sal's mother did in "Blueberries for Sal" by Robert McCloskey

Now, I have in the freezer a good amount of strawberries, pulped, for jam making, but not enough sugar.  And lemon juice for making lemonade, with the same sugar problem.  But 250 grams of blueberries?  Well, lets try it out.

They just love measuring on my old scale (pounds and ounces)

Into the smallest available pot , adding about three table spoons of sugar, and a little bit of fresh lemon juice.

Bubbling all nicely after the sugar melted

Will it set?

Just enough for four open sandwiches served with mascarpone.

Testing / tasting all set up.

Good!!!

And my verdict:  we overcooked it and it was difficult to spread, with maybe a little bit to much lemon juice.  But otherwise tasty.  And very easy to make a little bit of jam with a small amount of fruit.  The added advantage was that I did not have to sterilise any bottles.
